Now to select a pair of output devces from my fleet of 240s. These were measured and labeled for VGS over two years ago..... *Viewed: 2175 times.

These two are reasonably close in VGS. Nelson says don't worry about measuring to those extra digits to the right of the 4.1 Viewed: 1991 times.

Nearly completed, just need three 750 ohm resistors. Of course the electronics store are NOT open in Utah on Sundays. Viewed: 1933 times.

Sucess! The amp up and running. Showing idle current on negative rail. It turns out that the Tektronix TM500 power supply was just large enough to let the amp idle. A larger supply will be needed for actual power output tests. Viewed: 2330 times.

9.9 Watts/8 ohms Clip Point! Distortion is .22%. This is just below the positive peak clip point...... Viewed: 1506 times.
|
2.5 Watts/8 ohms Distortion is .05%. A bit of hum in the distortion output trace is probably from the use of all the test clip leads. Viewed: 1046 times.

The test setup. Sound technology 1701B, Tektronix 7704A Scope, various Tektronix TM-500 meters, etc. Dale 4 ohm 50 watt non-inductive dummy loads. Indeed, this is a temporary setup. The power supply rail level is controled from the variac. Viewed: 1683 times.

Start by installing the rectifiers on the heat sinks. Leave them a tad bit loose for now and then insert the heatsink assemblies closest to the edge of the pcb. *Viewed: 1461 times.

Being sure that the sink is square then proceed to solder it and the rectifier in place. Then snug the screw up. I choose to insulate my diodes with mics/grease fomr the sinks for safety reasons and because the sinks are pretty close together. Doing so will eliminate any possibility of a catastrophe from happening. Viewed: 1341 times.
